KINGS OF SOPHENE. Mithradates II Philopator, circa 89-after 85 BC. Dichalkon (Bronze, 17 mm, 4.23 g, 12 h), Arkathiokerta (?). Diademed and draped bust of Mithradates II to right, wearing bashlyk tied with a diadem. Rev. [BAΣΙΛΕ]ΟΣ / [ΜΙΘΡΙ]ΔΑ[Τ] Filleted palm frond; countermark: Nike standing left, holding wreath; all within round incuse. Kovacs -; for countermark, p. 79, 12 (on coins of Arkathias II). Unpublished save for the example in Leu Web Auction 5 (2018), 394, which had no countermark. A very interesting coin. Fine.
